Museum Island

The Lanyang Museum Park occupies a total area of 14 hectares. The main building occupies an area of 7,681m2. Equipped with a permanent exhibition, special exhibition and kid’s land, the Lanyang Museum is Taiwan’s first integrated museum displaying the diversity of local culture, history and ecosystems upon a local theme: Yilan. Through research and collection, demonstration and education, public services and environmental protection, it aims to shape a dynamic venue folklore education.

With a profound cultural history and abundant natural assets, Kaohsiung has unique and beautiful landscape interwoven by mountains, the sea, and rivers, making it outstanding compared to other cities. Since the beginning of the city’s development, Kaohsiung people have developed close ties with the sea. Thanks to the sea, Kaohsiung has successfully transformed from a small fishing village into a prosperous modern metropolis today. In recent years, the city government has actively renewed Kaohsiung’s cityscape and developed urban cultural tourism to attract more visitors to experience and share the beauty of Kaohsiung. In addition to an essential part of urban cultural tourism, a museum is an important site for lifelong learning to the public. In the future, apart from continuing the study of the history of Kaohsiung, enriching museum collections in various topics, planning more wonderful local exhibitions, turning the museum in to a knowledge base of history and culture of Kaohsiung, the Kaohsiung Museum of History will cross the ocean and walk into the international community, enhance cultural exchange, and broaden the public’s horizon to realize the dream of a happy city life based on the philosophy in cultivating Kaohsiung, embracing Taiwan, and thinking globally. Restructured as an administrative corporation in 2017, the Kaohsiung Museum of History has integrated resources from the public and private sectors and revitalized its rich collections through museum marketing. It is hoped that the museum will get closer to the daily life of citizens after its restructuring.

The NMTL is established to engage in the research, archival, exhibition and promotion of Taiwan literature. 1. Research, translation, editing and publication of Taiwan literature, including the following items. 2. Investigation, collection and archival of the historical sources of Taiwan literature and the artifacts of Taiwan literature writers. 3. Theme design and promotion, planning, maintenance and management of Taiwan literature fairs. 4. Promotion of Taiwan literature education, museum guided tours and inter-museum cooperation at home and abroad. 5. Promotion of other business in relation to Taiwan literature

Adhering to the spirit of “love our land; cherish our cultures, ” founder Ching-Fu Lin founded the “Nai-Weng Lin Foundation for Education & Culture” in 1985 in the name of Mr. Nai-Weng Lin, founder of Shung Ye Group, to plan the Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and donated his personal collection of indigenous artefacts over the past 20 years to embody the spirit: Take from society, Give back to society.

The Museum of World Religions was established based on the founder Venerable Hsin Tao's preaching philosophies of "A peaceful heart will result in a peaceful world" and "Respect, Tolerance and love." Its three major operating objectives are: (1)To act as a multi-religious cultural exchange platform, (2) to spread and educate love and peace, and (3) a learning center for life and happiness. Hopefully the Museum of World Religions can become a spiritual museum that provides people with opportunities to learn about various religions and learn about life education.
