Department Introduction

"Siao-Long" is the name of the "Siao-Long Society" of the Siraya tribe in Taiwan. Siao-Long Cultural Park arose from the former Sugar Factory. The Siao-Long Sugar Factory, established in 1906, was the Meiji Sugar Corporation's first modern sugar refinery in Taiwan. In 2003, the Tainan City government leased the sugar corporation's land to develop a recreational facility. The Park’s revitalized Japanese era sugar refinery warehouses successfully merge historic architecture with modern design in an area rich in history, culture and agriculture. In 2005, the Siao-Long Cultural Park was officially opened to the public. In 2013, the Siao-Long Artist Village was established and started to invite international artists to apply for the residency program. In 2015, the Siao-Long Children's Museum of Art was established. The park now is a cultural stronghold for traditional performance and folk arts and is emerging as a modern art venue that promotes artistic growth.
