Gueishan Island Fisherfolk's museum

Department Introduction

Due to incorporation of Gueishan Island in the military control area in 1977, all the residents moved from the island to this place. Driven by homesickness and with a mood of not forgetting their origin, the residents strove for the setup of the Gueishan Island Fisherfolk's Museum and promoted its establishment in 2005. As a typical community museum, the historical stories and living styles of these natives were presented with cultural relics and old pictures, most of which were donations of the original residents, of the traditional fishing village. After movement of the people from Gueishan Island, the busy life at the Daxi Fishing Port and the rapid change and development of the society have resulted in the fading of the hometown image from memory, and conversion of some traditional cultures of the traditional fishing village such as shipbuilding, bamboo weaving, 72-angle kite toys, and other folk crafts are in danger.
