Department Introduction

Most of the land in the Pearl Community is rice field (136 hectares). Therefore, straws have become the by-product of the community. The Pearl Community gave straws a new life by making crafts out of them during the execution of community development in 2000. Now we can see many creative cultural products made of straws in the Community. The straw painting, straw mask, straw relief mask, straw souvenir, straw doll, and straw knitting in the Straw Craft Museum all come from the straws that can be commonly seen in the community. We hope the newly created products can become the crafts of industrial arts. The promotion of straw crafts can not only educate people on the idea of waste recycling and being eco-friendly, but teach local people skills to cultivate themselves and improve their life quality.
