Department Introduction
The Yung Shing Furniture started its business on Haian Road in 1958. It has handicraft experience of over 60 years, and insists on using the traditional tenon and mortise process. Yung Shing Furniture manufactures furniture of the modern oriental style. Hoping to keep the tradition of the wood industry, Yung Shing Furniture used a spare factory of 12,231 square meters to build the Furniture Manufacturing Eco-Museum in Tainan in 2005. To collect, exhibit, educate, and promote are the business goals of Yung Shing Furniture. The Museum collects many pieces of wooden furniture to share with the lovers of it, and visitors can know more about the characteristics of wood, how it is processed, and the beauty of the tenon and mortise work. The interesting DIY workshop will give visitors a different feeling of the cultural charm and art of living in Tainan. The “Ruban School” has been founded for 10 years. It is the pioneer in the field of private woodworking education in the country. The Ruban School not only brings new ideas into the craft industry in Taiwan, but also passes down the tenon and mortise skills of the hard-working craftsmen to future generations. The tradition thus can have its own place in history.
