Establishment Purpose

  • Koxinga Museum was formerly known as the "Museum of Taiwan History" which was built in the Anping Fort in Showa 7 (1932) during the Japanese Colonial Period. It was later renamed as "Tainan City Museum of History" and relocated to Chikan in 1945. In 1963, as the collection housed in the museum was enlarged, it was again renamed as "Folk Arts Museum"; in 1965, it was relocated to the east side of the "Koxinga Shrine;" as a result, the precious artifacts have been displayed in the historical sites to bring out the best contrast; after the renovation in 2003, it was officially renamed as Koxinga Museum.
