Establishment Purpose

• [A beautiful window, and an art museum that grows with the city] Since ancient times, the academic culture has flourished throughout the Lanyang area, and Shen Baozhen once praised, "The best academic cultures of Taiwan are found in the Tamshui and Lanyang areas," as the Lanyang area has produced numerous talents in the field of art. The establishment of the Yilan Museum of Art has turned a beautiful page for Yilan's art scene, and has allowed the outside world see the beauty of Yilan's art scene while also allowing local art to have in-depth interactions with other parts of Taiwan and the rest of the world, becoming the most beautiful window of Yilan. The Yilan Museum of Art uses "pure art" as its core to establish a connection with the Old City's artistic energy, use themed exhibits to interconnect research, exhibits, collection, and promotion to further propel local art culture, and fully perform its professional duties as an art museum. The Yilan Museum of Art, formerly the Bank of Taiwan Yilan Branch, is located in the heart of the Old City and has witnessed the history of Yilan through different eras. Its windows and walls has seen the passage of time, and has been given new life after being transformed from a financial institute to a space for aesthetics. The Yilan Museum of Art inherits historical memories, and presents the glorious memories of the Old City with a brand new artistic style.

Department Introduction

The Yilan Museum of Art is affiliated with the Yilan County Government's Department of Cultural Affairs, and its organization is still in the form of task force. The Visual Arts Section of the Yilan County Government's Department of Cultural Affairs is in charge of the Museum's operations. The curator currently is the concurrent director Yilan County Government's Department of Cultural Affairs, who manages the entire Museum while directing and supervising the Museum's employees. The secretary is currently the concurrent director of Visual Arts Section of the Yilan County Government's Department of Cultural Affairs, and assists the curator in handling Museum affairs. There are three groups: the administrative operations group, the research exhibition group, and the archive education group.
