Establishment Purpose

• The Black Bat Squadron Memorial Hall is in the original camp of the Black Bat Squadron, i.e. Dongda Park at Section 2 of Dongda Road (across from Hsinchu City Cultural Affairs Bureau). This brings so much sentimental value to surviving members of the squadron. The museum has been built according to the appearance of the quarters of the former US Military Assistance Advisory Group (MAAG). With a total floor area of about 462m2, the museum has one basement and one story. A small square is designed for organizing small events to ensure the multiple uses of the museum. On the tempered glass memorial wall erected in the square, the merits of the Black Bat Squadron are recorded in both Traditional Chinese and English. Apart from exhibiting the history of the squadron with a full collection of related documents, the museum shares the museum space with local communities for residents to organize events, in order for people to understand more and better the historical significance of the Black Bat Squadron and thrive local cultural development by diversifying the use of museum space.

Department Introduction

Hsinchu City is a happy city filled with rich historical and cultural resources. Apart from expressing our tribute to these heroes sacrificing their lives to protect the country, it is hoped that this small but well-designed museum can demonstrate spatial diversity for local communities to hold events.
