The Institute of Yilan County History

Establishment Purpose

Besides a history institute, the IOYCH is the knowledge base of the humanities to the people in Yilan. Apart from a history classroom for student fieldtrips, it is “a space where people and history interact.” Regardless of age and gender, everyone can contact with and feel history, dialogue with one another and find their own ancestry and story.

Department Introduction

Founded in 1992, the Institute of Yilan County History (IOYCH) is Taiwan’s first county-level institute of historical studies to compile local history, gather local historical sources, record local history and promote local historical consciousness.
