Department Introduction
Hualien, a county on the rugged east coast of Taiwan, has a magnificent sea view and the astonishing mountain view. Weather here is mild. In addition, the produce and the fish production are rich. With its mineral vein, Hulien is famous for the quality marble and jade it produces, and Hualien has thus earned itself the name “Hometown of Stones”. Being richly endowed by nature, Hualien has its unique cultural customs and stone carving culture. In 2001, the “Hualien County Stone Sculptural Museum” was officially founded. It was the first stone sculptural museum in Taiwan. The Hualien County Stone Sculptural Museum promotes the stone carving culture; meanwhile, it is the center where stone carving work can be preserved, studied, and presented and people can share knowledge and information in the Museum. In the Museum, the distinctive stone carving and craft culture will touch more people’s hearts. In addition to the regular exhibition, the Museum organizes annual theme events. In the events, people can learn more about stones and see their true beauty. We sincerely invite you to come and feel the eternity created by the mountain and sea.
