Department Introduction

●To enhance the tourism competitiveness of indigenous peoples in Wulai District While indigenous peoples are unable to compete with Han business owners in capital and management in the present hot spring (spa) industry, instead of sharing the resulting interests, indigenous peoples in Wulai are rapidly marginalized during local tourism development. Therefore, the Wulai Atayal Museum is established to serve as a window and a bridge for local indigenous peoples to disperse spa tourism centralized in Wulai downtown to indigenous communities, in order to promote the overall growth of the Wulai District. ●A history view and exhibition design based on Atayal culture Due to the need for ethnic culture and ethnic identification, the Wulai Atayal Museum insists on the history view and exhibition design based on Atayal culture to revolutionize the Han-dominant history view to defend the long stigmatization and unintelligent image of indigenous peoples and to educate the public the true indigenous peoples and indigenous cultures. ●Operations system based on local indigenous peoples In addition to being an anthropology museum academically, the Wulai Atayal Museum is an ethnology museum based on the tradition, emotion, and ethnic identification of indigenous peoples. Its existence directly affects the right to interpretation of history and culture. For these reasons, in addition to museology specialty, the identification with local indigenous peoples is the main consideration in personnel affairs and the administration system of the Wulai Atayal Museum.
