Department Introduction
As Taiwan’s first specialist ceramics museum, the construction of the New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum (YGCM) was proposed in 1988, and the museum was completed and opened to the public on November 26, 2000. After 12 years of planning and construction, the YGCM is Taiwan’s first ceramics museum integrating the intelligence of the industry, the government, and the academia. Keeping Yingge’s kilning fire glowing, the YGCM exhibits the glamour of fusion of the kiln, pottery clay and glaze, hoping to disseminate the beauty of Taiwan ceramics worldwide. Since the beginning of service, apart from actively displaying Taiwan’s ceramics culture, stimulating the public’s interests in and care for the ceramics culture, enhancing the image of Yingge’s ceramics industry and the district, encouraging modern ceramics creation, and promoting international exchange, the YGCM has spared no effort to engage in the investigation, collection, preservation, and maintenance of Taiwan’s ceramics culture to embark on research, collection, exhibition and education promotion.
